South Island - Christian Fellowship

Our tour to connect with your faith in the South begins in Christchurch…bearing the name of our Lord, what a perfect place to begin.
This can be a stand alone tour or paired with a tour in the North Island to explore early NZ Christianity. Each stop we have the opportunity to meet new people and share our faith…. how your tour flows is entirely in your hands. We hope to share some of the below experiences with you and your congregation soon.

DAY 01: CHRISTCHURCH

Tour starts in Christchurch, New Zealand. We will provide time for fellowship, time for laughter, time for learning, time for worship and time for prayer - but most of all, time for God.
Today we will visit several historic churches in Christchurch, including the Cardboard Cathedral (pictured), to explore the changing face of faith in the Earthquake hit city before our welcome dinner.

DAY 02: CHRISTCHURCH

After breakfast and devotions in our hotel, we enjoy a short city sightseeing tour and we have a fellowship gathering with a local church to introduce you to New Zealand hospitality.

DAY 03: CHRISTCHURCH-TEKAPO-MT COOK - TWIZEL

Today we travel inland to view one of the most photographed churches in New Zealand. The Church of the Good Shepherd (pictured) sits on the shores of the picturesque Lake Tekapo. This truly is New Zealand scenery at its most spectacular and is a true show of the Glory of God in nature.

DAY 04: TWIZEL - OMARAMA - DUNEDIN

We leave this inland splendour this morning to head back to the coast today on our way south… traveling through lush dairy and sheep farms of Southland before we arrive in Dunedin, the ‘Edinburgh of the South’, which becomes evident as we take a tour of the city. Here you will visit one of the oldest churches in New Zealand, First Church Otago, the heart of the Presbyterian Church in Southland.

DAY 05: DUNEDIN - TE ANAU

We farewell Dunedin and travel out into lush sheep grazing pastures of Otago and Southland, passing by Lake Manapouri to arrive in Te Anau, the gateway to the beautiful Fiordland National Park, where we will overnight in preparation for one of New Zealand’s most spectacular scenic trips tomorrow.

DAY 06: TE ANAU - MILFORD SOUND - QUEENSTOWN

Today we are off early to explore the magical wonders of Milford Sound. Descending down through the Homer Tunnel we arrive in Milford, a truly spectacular ‘must see’ part of ‘Aotearoa’. We board a catamaran to head out into the Milford Sounds and enjoy the amazing and breathtaking views. This afternoon we head back through Te Anau to Queenstown – ‘truly one of the world’s most picturesque settings’.

DAY 07: QUEENSTOWN

Some say it’s the Adventure Capital of the World, others just love the scenery surrounding this alpine town. Either way, the day is yours to enjoy, doing whatever you choose. The alternatives are endless. For those wanting to put their feet up, Queenstown is an excellent place to do just that.

DAY 08: QUEENSTOWN - HOME

After our breakfast and devotions we step back in time with our visit to Arrowtown, the once thriving gold mining township on the banks of the Shotover River, which was one of the richest goldmining rivers in the world. We have time to browse the quaint shops and buildings including a visit to one of the following churches: St Paul’s Anglican Church, St Patrick’s Catholic Church or St John’s Presbyterian Church. Return to Queenstown before you start the journey home or on to another destination.

Godspeed on the next leg of your journey.

Our tours are completely bespoke dependent on the wishes of the group, so please use the above as a guideline for what is possible on a New Zealand tour of the South Island connecting with the locals and discovering Christianity in our regions.
